Our Preliminary Task
Here is our preliminary task in which we carried out to gain an understanding continuity. This was useful as it enabled us to gain an idea of how to...When creating our preliminary task we had to include:
1. Shot-reverse-shot
2. Match on action
3. Contingency editing
What went well...
- We developed our understanding of varying shot types and continuity editing
- We gained experience with using filming technology
- We successfully created a storyboard that we stuck closely to
- We learned how to use the editing software on iMovie
Even better if...
- As this was our first time filming, our continuity needed adjustment as it could have gone better.
- We could have thought more about more interesting angles in which to film with
- We could have also used different lighting, in contrast the dark with light
How we overcame problems...
- We had to do this over a couple of days, so we needed to make sure our actors were wearing the same thing each time
- Classrooms were unavailable so we had to plan and adapt our filming to when they were available.
- we had to stick to our story board closely to make sure that the continuity made sense
What can we included next time to improve it...
- Use colours which signifies things about the character
- Use more interesting contrasts in lighting
Evaluation; what we learnt from doing this exercise...
-We gained an understanding of filming and how to do different shots
- We developed a knowledge of how to do continuity editing
- We found out problems and how to deal with these in the future
- We planned out our clip using a story board and all the other key elements behind pre-production and pos-production
Through all of this knowledge in which we learnt from doing this task, we can use in creating our film opening and improve on things that we thought could have made it better. This has added to our experience of filming and editing a clip.
